Mais elle n'avait jamais vu Riya faire de même. « Ça fait un moment », répondit Riya avant de jeter un regard circulaire pour inspecter les alentours. Mais avant qu'elle ne puisse bouger, ses yeux se plissèrent. Elle avait senti du mana. Et ce n'était pas le mana qui flottait dans l'air et se mêlait à leur respiration à chaque inspiration. Et durant son temps à l'université ces derniers mois, elle n'avait trouvé personne d'autre que Samuel, le frère d'Amelia. Alors que Riya s'apprêtait à continuer de descendre, un cri perçant brisa le silence. « KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ! » « Qu'est-ce que c'est que ça ? » Amelia était sidérée. Elle allait sauter en bas, mais heureusement, elle n'avait pas encore amorcé son mouvement, sinon elle aurait pu tomber. Ruby s'approcha de la fenêtre du couloir et regarda dehors. Son corps se raidit en découvrant la scène extérieure, incrédule. « Qu'est-ce... qu'est-ce que c'est ? » À la question de Ruby, Amelia et Riya se précipitèrent aussi vers la fenêtre. Naturellement, Amelia rejoignit Ruby tandis que Riya se posta à la fenêtre du troisième étage. Dehors, les ruines semblaient identiques à avant. Mais en concentrant leur attention sur le terrain près du dortoir, elles aperçurent quelqu'un qui courait, poursuivi par une créature. Cet animal ressemblait à un chien, voire un loup. Cependant, des flammes noires et grises enveloppaient son corps. Il paraissait terrifiant et ses mouvements étaient d'une rapidité effrayante. En une seconde, l'étudiant qui fuyait fut rattrapé puis déchiré. Scratch ! La vision de la chair déchirée et les cris de l'étudiant leur parvinrent avec une clarté glaçante. Elles eurent l'impression qu'un projectile leur transperçait le cœur, empli de douleur. « Ça... » « Rentrez à l'intérieur, maintenant. » Amelia tremblait, mais elle savait qu'elles seraient plus en sécurité dans leur dortoir. Même si ce n'était que temporaire et même si le bâtiment risquait de s'effondrer... C'était préférable à affronter ces animaux inconnus en plein air. « Oui. » Ruby tremblait et suivit Amelia en hâte. « Riya, viens aussi ! » À cet instant, Riya contemplait la scène devant elle, le sang glacé dans ses veines. Riya était confiante dans sa capacité à vaincre ces bêtes seule. Mais qu'en était-il des autres ? « J'arrive », répondit Riya avant de regagner l'escalier. D'un mouvement agile, elle remonta et vit Amelia qui la regardait. « Je pense que tu progresserais mieux en apprenant avec mon frère », murmura Amelia avec un sourire forcé. Elle luttait pour ne pas penser à ces horreurs extérieures. « Rentrons d'abord. » Riya secoua la tête. Elle seule savait très bien que si elle apprenait la méthode des guerriers, elle ne progresserait jamais.
